Happy New Year

My last question for 2009 for you is, What funny habit did you inherit from your parents? Mine is saving containers, everything from peanut butter and miracle whip plastic bottles, hot cocoa, frosting, even nut containers. You never know when they will come in handy and sometimes I wonder what to do with them. Well as the Christmas Holiday came and went and my family was sick with the stomach flu, I was unable to get out and deliver fun neighbor and freind gifts. So I came up with this idea for a New Year Treat for my neighbors and I could use some of those containers I have been saving.

I decorated the following containers using:
1. From the Holiday mini catalog I used the Night & Day Specialty Designer Series Paper & Silver Elastic Cord (which is great to have around for attaching tags to gifts). If you haven't ordered these items from this mini catalog, you will need to hurry, the catalog expires on January 4, 2010.
2. Card Stock: Basic Black, Silver, Real Red
3. Big Shot Die: Flower Folds & Two Tags
4. Other: 1" circle punch, clear jeweled brad, sticky strip
5. Stamp Set: Family Phrases

I filled each container with Chex Party Mix with a twist. Since I like a little salty and sweet mixed together, I added M&M's. Since most of you know I don't live close to a grocery store I have to use what I have on hand and the only M&M's I had were Halloween. I thought they added a fun festive look to the Party Mix.

Happy New Year!

Christmas Countdown (3 weeks)

Check back every Friday until Christmas for more FUN Christmas gift giving ideas!

As most of you know I don't live close to any type of store. When I need a gift box, wrapping paper, scotch tape or a gift bag I can't just jump into the car and run to a local Walmart or grocery store. Here are a few FUN packaging solutions that can either work for Christmas or any other occasion.

A soup can!
I open a pop up soup can with my Pampered Chef can opener, use the contents and wash out the can. Decorate the can and fill it with your gift. I have found that our sticky strip tape works the best to make the paper stick to the can. Now for the tricky part, use either a little super glue or SIU Crystal Effects around the edge of the cans lid to stick the lid back onto the can. Now your gift recipient can open the pop up to retrieve their gift

Just use a soup can as a little gift bag with out the lid. You can use your Crop-A-Dile to punch holes in the sides of the can.

Just any random empty container you have.
This is a container that crystal light drink mixture came in.

Not just another gift bag!
All you need are two coordinating sheets of 12X12 double sided Designer Series Paper. On both sheets score along the top edge at 2" and along the other 3 edges at 3". Fold and cut one side of the paper where the 3" score lines cross each other. Now use our double sided sticky tape (this works the best) to assemble bag. You can change your scoring dimensions to make a skinner or taller bag. Use some ribbon for the handles. Now you have a one of a kind bag to give your gift in.

Jingle all the Way Tile
This project is so FUN and QUICK to make.
I purchased a small tile from a home improvement store and the bells from a craft Store.
StampIn Up Items used:
1. Jingle All the Way small red (Item #114707 , $3.50) Definitely Decorative Vinyl
2. 3/4" Polka-Dot Grosgrain Real Red Ribbon (Item # 115608, $8.95)

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR
SIU has some great surprises for you in 2010!

Christmas Scout Project

This month for our Scout Pack Meeting we will be going caroling and taking plates of cookies to neighbors the scouts have chosen. We thought it would be fun for the scouts to create cards to go with the plates of cookies. So I brought a few supplies to Den meeting on Wednesday.

This is what I came up with and asked the boys to create their own card
Here is what the boys came up with. I think they had fun making the cards, especially with the punches.

We used the SIU ornament punch and the scout symbol punch(which I found in a clearance bin at a craft store several years ago)

MERRY CHRISTMAS

Christmas Countdown (4 weeks)

Check back every Friday until Christmas for more FUN Christmas gift giving ideas!

I'm so excited to share a few of the items I have been working on this week.

1. This cute jar I decorated for a friend. Can you guess what jar I used? I used the Sparkly & Bright Stamp Set ($17.95, Item#115346) , Garden Green and Chocolate Chip Card Stock, Real Red Grosgrain Ribbon, Chocolate Chip Double Stitched Ribbon, Scallop Circle Punch, Scallop Edge Punch, and Merry Moments Designer Series Paper

2. These are some fun canisters I decorated using the Sparkly & Bright Stamp Set ($17.95, Item#115346). I just love this stamp set!. I filled the canisters with red and green M&M's. I thought you could decorate a Tree with them or tie them around a liter of pop you are giving a way for a xmas gift. I bet you are wondering where I go these canisters, well so am I. I've had them laying around my stamp room for several years, but I think I ordered them from a mail order company.

3. Some more FUN Gift card Purses. I sold out of these at the Kemmerer Kraft Fair. So I've made some more for the upcoming Kraft Fairs. As you can see I just used Designer Series Paper (some of the patterns are retired), the Top Note Die Cut and some punches.

Christmas Countdown ( 7 weeks)

Check back every Friday until Christmas for more FUN Christmas gift giving ideas!

I made this Christmas Count down last year. My kids had so much fun opening each box and finding a treat inside (from chocolate nuggets, little toys, Xmas ornaments, money and snowflake necklaces for the girls). They have already started asking if I was going to get out the Christmas Countdown this year. It's going to be a fun family tradition each year.

I have countdown kits available if you are interested, just call me
$15 per kit plus the cost of vinyl Christmas count down (small, real red) plus any shipping cost (if you can't pick it up from my house)

Each kit includes
* framed piece of wood
* 6 - 6X6 sheets of Designer Series Paper (Kraft, Real Red and Old Olive)
* over 3 yds of 5/8" Grosgrain Ribbon (Chocolate Chip, Old Olive, Real Red)
* Instructions and one sample of how to make your own box

What YOU will need to purchase in addition to finish your count down calendar
* Vinyl Christmas Count Down (Item # 114831, $19.95)
* White Acrylic Paint
* Small boxes from a Kraft store, dollar store or paper supply store, or I include instructions to make your own boxes
* Velcro to attach boxes to picture (this makes it easy for storage and the kids can remove the boxes after they open them)
* Thin Balsa wood for numbers

Makes a cute and fun family Christmas gift.

Christmas Countdown (8 Weeks)

Check back every Friday until Christmas for more FUN Christmas gift giving ideas!

What is the perfect gift to give anytime? A Gift Card! It's always the perfect size and the right color.
But receiving a Gift Card in a Hand made card is so much Fun! Here are a few ideas on how to dress up and personalize that gift card.

Card Stock: Bermuda Bay, Real Red, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White
Stamp Set: Delightful Decorations, Sparkly & Bright
Other: Ornament Punch, Bermuda Bay Polka-Dot Ribbon, crimper or scallop edge punch, Slit Punch

How about a CUTE purse for your gift Card. They are so simple to make.

Here I used some of the Holiday Lounge Designer Series Paper for the base of the purse. The Top Note Big Shot Die cut was used for the flap of the purse. A little ribbon for the handle. Inside the purse a plastic sleeve holds the gift card in the purse. To close and secure the purse I used a piece of Velcro.

Here
are two more examples. I used some retired Designer Series Paper and Card Stock. The Rudolph Stamp is from the Sparkle & Bright Stamp Set (page 41, Item # 115356, $17.95)

Halloween

I created this 6x6 Scrap book page for a friend.
Stamp Set: center from Sweet Centers (pg 6 Holiday mini Catalog)
Card Stock: Old Olive, Elegant Eggplant, Basic Black, Only Orange, Ruby Red (spider nose)
Ink: Old Olive, Elegant Eggplant, Basic Black
Other: Scallop Circle Punch, Circle Punch, Photo Corner Punch, Silver Cord, Cast a Spell Designer Series Paper

This Card was so fun to create, the original card I saw used the Pumpkin Patch Stamp set (pg 9 Holiday Mini Catalog) for the eyes, but I don't have this stamp set so I used what I had. Plus the original card used the 1 1/4" Pumpkin Pie Striped Grosgrain Ribbon, which I was out of, so I used some left over Tangerine Tango Double Stripped Ribbon (retired last year). But I think the card still turned out CUTE!

Stamp Set: Grateful Greetings (pg 12 Holiday Mini Catalog)
Card Stock: Basic Black, Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie, Whisper White, Elegant Eggplant
Ink: Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie, Elegant Eggplant
Other: Cast A Spell Designer Series Paper, Small Oval Punch, Circle Punch, Tag Punch, Silver Cord, Window Sheets, White Gel Pen, Sticky Strip, Tangerine Tango Ribbon (retired), Big Shot Serif Essentials Alphabet

Christmas Coutdown (week 9)

Check back every Friday until Christmas for more FUN Christmas gift giving ideas!

This first card is one I did for a Hostess last month. She wanted to use the Heat-N-Stick Powder, Versa Mark and glitter.

Card Stock: Kraft, Old Olive, Real Red, Whisper White
Ink: Versa Mark, Chocolate Chip
Other: Red Glitter, Sleigh Bells Ribbon (pg 17 Holiday mini catalog)

These next two cards are some I made at a SIU event I attended in Logan. I don't know who the original creators are (to give them credit). But I thought they are fun and easy cards to recreate for your Holiday gift giving.

Stamp Set: Delightful Decorations ($21.95 - Holiday Mini Catalog)
Card Stock: Old Olive, Whisper White
Ink: Old Olive
Other: Christmas Coccoa Specialty Designer Series Paper and Ornament Punch (both of these items can be found in the Holiday Mini Catalog), Whisper White Organza Ribbon, Pearl from the Pretties Kit

Stamp set: Wandering Words ($25.95 - Holiday Mini Catalog)
Card stock: Real Red, Whisper White
